Happy First Angelversary Skyler Sue

Mother’s day 2012, Skyler Sue gained her angel wings. It’s been one year now since our baby girl became an angel. To celebrate Skyler Sue’s first angelversary, we decided to release 24 butterflies by her grave on Mother’s day. Releasing butterflies was a symbolic event to us. Just like butterflies, Skyler Sue also gained herself a pair wings and became one of God’s angels. Happy Angelversary Sweet Pea, we love you and miss you.

Happy Birthday Skyler!

When your child is born, naturally you look forward to years and years of birthday celebrations.  When Skyler was born and we eventually learned of her diagnosis, we were hopeful that we’d be able to spend a handful of birthdays with her.  At the very least, maybe we’d get 1-2 years worth of birthday celebrations with her.

New Life In Skyler’s Garden

Hanging plant where the birds made their nest It’s been a little over two months now since our little angel passed away. Whenever we think of her, we remind ourselves of the great things Skyler taught us. She taught us to live everyday like it is our last, not waste a moment with those we love and appreciate all the things we have in life. And every day around us, we see little reminders of Skyler, including her beautiful little garden. Her garden continuously blooms and attracts wildlife. (more…)

Rest in Peace Skyler Sue

On Sunday, May 13th we made the heartbreaking decision to let Skyler pass away. It’s been a little over 12 hours now since she passed and so far the pain has been excruciating. Even though it hurts to be at home without her, we know we made the right decision.

Skyler Needs Your Prayers

The last 12+ hours have been difficult for all of us.

Shortly after 6PM on Saturday, Skyler’s apnea monitor started alarming and her skin was turning blue. Mom started screaming but was still able to give Skyler chest compressions before we rushed to the ER. Once we got to the hospital Skyler was still blue and felt lifeless. Her heart stopped beating for at least 10 minutes and at that point she was considered to be clinically dead. Mom begged the Doctors & Nurses that were huddled around her to do something to bring her back…and miraculously they did.

Happy 3rd Month Skyler!

Skyler is now three months old! With all the things we went through since Skyler was born, it’s hard to believe it was only three months. But at the same time, it seems like Skyler is growing fast right before our very eyes.  Her feed is now at 23 ml/hr and three days ago she weighed at 8 lbs and 2 oz.

Busy Week For Skyler (UPDATE: 4/19)

Skyler has a busy week this week. Today we’re all headed to Tulsa for a follow up appointment with the surgeon that performed her G-tube & fundoplication surgery. It will be the longest car ride Skyler’s taken since her trip home from Tulsa. We’re confident that she’ll do just fine and hopeful that the surgeon will be encouraged by her progress. The scar on her stomach is barely noticeable anymore and by now the G-tube should be set in place.
