Skyler Sues Final Resting Place

We would like to thank our family and friends who were able to attend Skyler Sue’s visitation and memorial.  We would also like to extend our gratitude to those who sent us kind thoughts and messages during our time of grief. Your presence, support and kind words have helped us cope during this difficult time. Also, a big thank you to everyone who contributed to Children’s Miracle Network in memory of Skyler. Your contribution doesn’t only give Skyler a wonderful memorial, but will also help other families going through difficult times. Lastly, to all those who followed Skyler’s blog and videos, we are forever grateful. It gives us great joy to not only be chosen as her family but also to share the lessons of life and love that Skyler taught us.

 

Below are two loving speeches that Grandma Sue & Dad delivered during her memorial service .

 

Grandma Sue’s Memorial Speech

 

The Gift of Skyler

 

Brian and Lexi gave me the greatest gift of my life when Skyler was born, and then again, when they included me in everything and allowed me to spend as much time as I could with her. I knew that I would love being a Grandma, but I never could have imagined how much I would love Skyler. She captured my heart from the moment I first saw her, and every waking moment since has been filled with thoughts of love for this precious little baby.

 

Skyler came into our lives and faced challenge after challenge for her little body to survive and grow; and every single time, she amazed us. From the beginning, we knew how special Skyler was; not because of the challenges she faced, but by how her strength of spirit always prevailed. I couldn’t wait to get out of school each day so I could go visit her, first when she was in the hospital, and then when Brian and Lexi were finally able to bring her home. My visits, my time with Skyler gave me the greatest joy and peace I have ever known. She did not communicate like other little babies, but when she focused her sweet eyes on yours, you knew she was telling you how much she loved you in return. When she made her sweet little sounds, we had the most wonderful conversations.

 

I got to witness first-hand how much she was loved and cared for by her wonderful parents; and I have never been more proud of my son and daughter-in-law than when I watched them with Skyler. Everything they did and will continue to do now is out of their love and devotion to their sweet little baby girl.  We always called Skyler an angel, but now I know without a shadow of a doubt that we were truly blessed to be in the presence of one of God’s Angels when Skyler was here. She was pure joy and love.

 

So, sweet baby Skyler, Grandma loves you so much, and I miss you so much, but I know you just couldn’t stay  any longer. You were so brave and so strong; you gave us enough joy and love to last a life time in your short stay with us. Tiny body, HUGE LOVE, as your Great Aunt Marcia wrote when you drifted up to heaven on Sunday night in your little aviator hat. Now I can smile when I see you playing with the angels, and Jesus gets to hold you now instead of Grandma. I know you are happy and healthy, and I feel your sweet presence in every waking moment.

 

You will always be my sweet little baby girl, and I cannot wait to see you again…

Dad’s Memorial Speech

 

Goodbye Skyler Sue

 

Skyler, as you watch over us, now you truly know how many lives you’ve touched in so many different ways.

 

You came into this world fighting for your life…but no matter how hard it was, you continued to persevere and show us your true spirit.

 

Despite your limitations…despite your poor prognosis, you were always perfect to us…and we wouldn’t trade the chance to be your parents for anything.

 

In just the 3 months that you were with us, we learned to cherish every single day & every special moment we have with the ones we love. You taught us the value of life, love, happiness & virtue.

 

We will always remember your beautiful face…your soulful & loving eyes…every little sound you were able to make…and most of all, the feeling of love & pure joy every time we held you close.

 

It is impossible to express the pain we feel now & will always feel from losing you, but we do take comfort in knowing that you passed away peacefully in our arms and that you are now with Jesus.

 

All of your limitations are gone…your brain & entire body are now healthy, there is no more pain and there are no more seizures. You can spread your wings and show your true self. We cannot wait until the day we see you again, in all of your glory…when we’re able to hold you, to kiss you & finally hear your voice.

 

Now we will say farewell, one last time…until we meet again. We love you & we miss you. We will smile for you & we will cry for you, every day. We will make sure that your spirit lives on forever.

 

Goodbye Miracle Baby…Goodbye Sweet Pea…Goodbye Our Little Angel…Goodbye Skyler Sue.

Skyler Sue Gibson, 3 Months & 4 Days old, passed away on May 13th in the loving arms of her family at St. Francis Children’s Hospital in Tulsa, OK.

 

A visitation will be held between the hours of 12PM & 2PM on Friday, May 18th at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville, AR. A memorial service will follow at 3PM at Pinnacle Memorial Gardens in Rogers, AR. Skyler’s visitation & memorial service is a celebration of her life, so we request all visitors to wear warm, happy colors.

She is survived by her two canine sisters, Maya & Lily.

 

Skyler enjoyed the company of her favorite stuffed animals, Eggbert & Patrick; and listening to classical music & assorted rock lullabies. Throughout her life, Skyler showed us her incredible perseverance, unbelievable strength & fighting spirit.

 

Skyler touched so many lives in her short time with us. She taught us the value of life, love, happiness and virtue.
